ACS UK has six decades of experience of the design and certification of high quality, unique cabin interior furniture and cabin arrangements. We realise customer’s’ design concepts, making them feasible for manufacture and certification by EASA, FAA and Type Certificate Holders. This is a unique skill set and can only be developed with time and care.
ACS UK uses aviation industry standard 3D CAD Systems with the established capability to import and export models to/from all Type Certificate Holders.
We use TC Holders’ specified file check software and have participated in Digital Mockup Reviews with a European TC Holder regularly since 2001. ACS UK was the first cabin interior supplier to achieve this successfully.
ACS UK is the producer/developer of a number of proprietary fibre reinforced composites materials and processes, which have been progressively developed to provide optimum mechanical and fire property performance for modern cabin interiors. All unique materials are demonstrate to comply with all regulations by performance and qualification testing to major TC Holder’s requirements.
ACS UK has been responsible for the development and aviation approval of a number of unique new materials and decorative finishes in partnership with external organisations including: Cytec™, Chameleon™, Mankiewicz™, Evonik™, Sabic™, IonBond™, Isovolta™.
ACS UK has validated its designs by use of static and sometimes dynamic Finite Element Analysis since 1991. Today NASTRAN is the primary Finite Element Analysis tool used in all parts of the Group for structural load, stress and dynamic performance modelling. Mechanical properties of materials are either obtained from aviation industry recognised standards, or are generated by independently verified structural test programmes.
ACS UK has extensive in-house structural and cyclic testing laboratories, able to verify structural integrity and stiffness, and perform accelerated life testing of mechanical systems. Structural testing is conducted by ACS UK EASA Compliance Verification Engineers and may be witnessed by design partners, customers, TC Holders, Airworthiness Authorities. Test capability is available from the smallest latch mechanism to the largest wide body galleys and monuments. Full scale flight deck door intrusion testing has been conducted for three aircraft types. In-house full scale ultimate load and cyclic testing has been performed regularly since 1997.
ACS UK and its forerunners have certified aircraft furnishings, equipment, and cabin electrical systems and equipment and their installation for commercial aircraft continuously since 1950, the date of our earliest UK CAA Design Organisation Approval. ACS UK has held EASA Design Organisation Approval since its establishment in 2005. ACS UK certification records include more than 1,000 major modifications to commercial aircraft, certified as UK CAA Major Modifications, FAA Supplemental Type certificates, EASA Supplemental Type Certificates, EASA Repairs, and EASA Minor Changes. The ACS UK Technical Publications Department maintains and supports the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for ACS UK certified installations for thousands of aircraft and rotorcraft flying with ACS UK interior equipment and furnishings.
