AIM Altitude is currently in the process of manufacturing the latest Premium Economy class Cabin Dividers for Lufthansa. While relatively small in scale, the cabin dividers make a big difference to the airline, as they are the means for Lufthansa to differentiate Premium Economy from Economy class.
The new Premium Economy class Cabin Dividers are being created for Lufthansa for five twin-aisle aircraft types – Boeing 747-8i, 747-400 and Airbus A330, A340-300, A340-600.
Mick Oakey, Vice President Corporate Accounts for AIM Altitude, said:
“The translucent dividers provide demarcation between Premium Economy and Economy class cabins without impacting on the ‘Direct View’ of the cabin for the crew during taxi, take-off and landing. They also maintain an open and airy feeling within the cabin, unlike a more traditional curtain divider.”
The stylish curving dividers are minimal yet effective. The divider header-panel is PU-coated, in a light grey, to match the cabin’s overhead stowage bins so that it blends with its surroundings to become an integral part of the cabin. The fabric screen is a dark grey, fine open-weave, supported all round by a tubular frame that is given a quality finish by being fully encapsulated in a matching colour leather border.
In collaboration with Lufthansa, AIM Altitude carried out the industrial design of the divider, which differs slightly depending on aircraft type, and also developed a method of installation that allows for the repositioning of the divider by maintenance staff, without significant disruption to the rest of the cabin.
The Dividers are manufactured at AIM Altitude’s Cabin Interiors facility in the UK, where they also underwent a full test and certification programme in order to comply the latest Structural and Flammability airworthiness requirements.
