AIM Composites’ Test Laboratory has recently been awarded approval by the authority of the NADCAP Management Council for Non Metallic Materials Testing (NMMT). One of the first UK Test Laboratories to receive this coveted accreditation, this is a significant milestone, and complements AIM Composites’ UKAS accreditation.
Dominic Moore, Test Laboratory Manager, said: “Gaining Nadcap accreditation is a fantastic achievement for AIM Composites’ Test Laboratories, and recognition of our materials expertise and stringent processes. Nadcap accreditation is an important part of our continued progression plan, which includes the improvement of our Fire and Chemical Analysis and Mechanical Performance Test Laboratories, supporting both production programmes and the increasing requirements from our third-party customers.”
Nadcap was established in 1990 and developed as industry-wide audit criteria for special processes and products for the aerospace industry. Nadcap is fully supported and adopted by major OEM aerospace manufacturers including Airbus, Boeing and Rolls Royce and their supply chains.
Chris Leese-Wood, Managing Director at AIM Composites, said: “The Nadcap approval is part of our strategy to become the leading Aerospace Test Lab in Europe. As well as investing in our facilities and staff, we are looking to secure additional approvals for CS23 and reinstate our mechanical approvals to provide a complete service to our customers.”
With the expanding demand for the use of advanced composite material in the global aerospace market, Nadcap accreditation is a natural progression for AIM Composites’ Test Laboratories. An upgrade of facilities is due for completion in the first quarter of 2017, which will expand AIM Composites’ capabilities to support additional research and development projects, alongside its more standard offerings.
