On Friday 20th May, at the Cipriani Hotel, Venice, DESIGN ET AL, alongside the leading yacht and aviation design magazine, LUXE ET AL, hosted a spectacular evening for the 6th Annual International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2016, sponsored by Embraer, AkzoNobel and Sylka Carpets.
The awards provide an opportunity for designers within the two industries to come together to share ideas and gain recognition for outstanding concepts and design work. They are also attended by industry leaders from companies such as Etihad, TAG Aviation, Comlux Aviation and South African Airways.
AIM Altitude was shortlisted for both its ‘social’ and ‘space’ door 2 schemes. ‘Social’ shows AIM Altitude’s vision and aesthetic ideas for the future, creating a relaxing and social experience promoted by bespoke seating units and a socialising area. ‘Space’ presents the airline with the chance to differentiate, featuring a forward-facing galley and half-height unit, with clean and open sightlines, creating fresh, airy feel.
The awards received in excess of 7,000 votes from design professionals from the yacht and aviation industries. To AIM Altitude’s delight, the Social scheme was the voters’ choice for the title of Best Aviation Concept Cabin Interior. Ross Burns, Lead Industrial Designer for AIM Altitude, collected the award for his exceptional work, presented by sponsors, Akzo Nobel.
The recognition for AIM Altitude within the design industry is acknowledgement of the company’s growing work in design services.
The winning projects will be featured in Luxe et al Magazine over the coming 12 months, in a series of articles covering the projects in detail.
