On 9th July 2014, Emirates Airline took delivery of its 50th A380, equipped with the now iconic horseshoe bar and accompanying lounge area, manufactured by AIM Aviation. To celebrate this milestone, Emirates has released a video showing the workmanship that AIM Aviation puts in to producing the on-board lounge:
AIM Aviation is currently building the 54th set of Emirates A380 bar and lounge furniture, with a further 86 A380s pending.
John Heath, group design and technical director for AIM Aviation, said: “The Emirates A380 bar and lounge is testament to a process that integrates design with manufacture, aesthetics with engineering and vision with craftsmanship. AIM Aviation engaged 20 designers on the development of the on-board lounge. They worked on the physical design, the qualification of materials and the testing of the product to ensure it was fit for purpose. The resulting business class lounge provides a unique social experience and is now instantly recognisable as part of the Emirates brand. We are extremely proud of the product we have delivered, and continue to deliver.”
